“Happily ever after” can start here – if you’re hungry enough.
A sandwich shop in Boston called Pauli’s North End announced in honor of National Lobster Day on September 25th that they are selling $10,000 worth of lobster rolls, featured with a 1-5/8 carat diamond over 1.75 pound of fresh lobster meat.
“The idea of filling the restaurant with friends and family and popping the question in the most Boston way ever seems like a fun idea,” restaurant owner Paul Barker said in a Masslive report.
The signature roll, known as the USS Lobstitution, is filled with 28 ounces of shellfish and served on a long grilled sub roll — and, on this special day, comes with a certified diamond halo engagement ring. with a round cut. The sandwich itself can be purchased at the restaurant on any weekday for $99.99.
“28 ounces of lobster meat with fingers and claws, lemon twist and mayo on a long grilled roll… Can you sink it?” reads the restaurant’s menu.
However, on this special day only, customers can add a little stunner to their sandwich for an additional $9,900.01. The price tag also includes closing the restaurant for the couple and the guests they invite.
Pauli’s North End, a four-generation family business, has orchestrated similar burger promotions in the past to maintain its local persona as the “wild, sandwich-filled” restaurant.
“We actually put it out there a few years ago as a hamburger, but we’re known for our lobster rolls, so hopefully someone might be interested!” told The Post.
In an Instagram post revealing their upcoming promotion, those interested shared their reaction to receiving the engagement lobster list.
“I mean I would say yes,” laughed one app user.
“Yes 100%,” added another.
“Our dream proposal,” the restaurant replied.
The restaurant is asking interested customers to contact the establishment at pauliscatering@paulisnorthend.com in advance of the Sept. 25 shellfish offering to secure Pauli’s engagement lobster.
“We just put the word out, so it hasn’t gotten out yet,” Barker confessed to The Post.
